Please join us on Wednesday, October 14th at 4:30pm as we discuss the book “Politics in Our Veins: The Rise of Dominican American Political Power in the United States.” The three coauthors - Yalidy Matos, Domingo Morel and Michelle Bueno Vásquez - will be joined by Lt. Governor Sabina Matos and former Providence Mayor Angel Tavares.

"Politics in Our Veins" captures the complex journey of how Dominican Americans rose to political power, becoming major players in city and local politics and influential leaders at the state and national levels. Drawing on original surveys, in-depth interviews with elected officials, and archival data, the book traces the journey of Dominican American political power.  Lt. Governor Matos, former Providence mayor Angel Tavares (both featured in the book) and the coauthors will discuss the myriad factors that have contributed to Dominican Americans' political success as citizen activists and elected officials.
